Negotiations begin for onshore detention services

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection is entering negotiations with preferred tenderers for the provision of onshore immigration detention services, Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, the Hon Scott Morrison said today.

Minister Morrison said the department released a request for tender in April for the provision of detention health services and for facilities and detainee services and since then had undertaken a comprehensive evaluation of the tenders.

'My department has determined that the preferred tenderers provided the best value for money, and demonstrated a range of benefits and efficiencies,' Minister Morrison said.

The preferred tenderers are:

Minister Morrison said the department will commence negotiations with the preferred tenderers shortly and depending on the success of those negotiations contracts will be entered into.

Unsuccessful tenderers have been advised and will be offered a debrief by the department at a later date.
