SASTRA University releases rank list for admission - The Hindu

The SASTRA University on Saturday released its rank lists for admission to B. Tech. and 5-Year Integrated M.Tech. programmes.

N. Anirudth from Maharishi Vidya Mandir School in Chennai has secured the top rank with a JEE and Plus Two combined score of 143.03. He has scored 96.6 per cent in the Plus Two board exam and secured 280 marks in JEE Main 2015.

A total of 70 per cent of the seats will be allotted based on this combined score and the remaining 30 per cent on normalised Plus Two aggregate marks in which the first rank is shared by Andhra Pradesh students Vadigineni Ramya from Tenali district and Kale Veeroji from Prakasam district both scoring 99.3 per cent in the Higher Secondary Examinations.

Setting the application deadline at 6 p.m. on June 13, the SASTRA University released the rank list at 9 p.m. the same day.

The quality of applications has increased when compared to last year with over 68 per cent of the applicants having scored more than 90 per cent aggregate in Plus Two exams while the corresponding percentage for last year was 64.

SASTRA University is the only deemed university using the JEE-Main Scores and Plus Two aggregate together for its admission process without conducting its own entrance exams.

The detailed rank lists are available at www.sastra.edu. The counselling for admissions will be held between June 24 and 27 and counselling letters can be downloaded from the university website.

More than 16,500 students had applied from different States to get into the university.
