DALLAS, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In response to market demand, SMU Cox School of Business is launching a new graduate degree option, the SMU Cox Fast Track MBA.  This one-year, full-time MBA degree program, building upon the strengths of the other Cox MBA programs, is designed for MBA prospects who are seeking an intensive business school experience and want to advance in their current careers rather than switch careers.  MBA Fast Track courses will be taught by the same faculty who teach in the school's other top-ranked MBA programs.  The new, streamlined program will offer a more affordable MBA option for people with real-world work experience and undergraduate business or economics degrees who want an MBA to move their careers to the next level quickly.  Applications are being accepted now for the inaugural class that will begin in May 2015.

"At SMU Cox, we teach business students the importance of giving customers what they want and of staying competitive in the marketplace," said Albert W. Niemi, dean of the SMU Cox School of Business. "By expanding our MBA program offerings, we're doing just that. In Europe and Asia, more and more business schools are offering students a one-year option, as are a few other highly-respected business schools in this country.  The world these days is moving faster.  This degree program, no less demanding than our traditional Full-Time MBA, is designed for those who want to put their MBA experience on that same fast track."

Students who enroll in the new SMU Cox Fast Track MBA should expect a rigorous 12 months, beginning with 16 credit hours of summer core courses starting in May, followed by 28 hours of elective courses in the fall and spring semesters.  The Fast Track MBA program will offer fewer electives than the traditional SMU Cox Full-Time MBA program and will not require a summer internship.  The first application deadline for the May 2015 program launch is January 12, 2015.

In addition to the new Fast Track MBA, SMU Cox offers prospective students three other MBA programs, all highly ranked:  the 21-month Full-Time MBA, ideal for career changers and career accelerators with two to five years of work experience; the 24-month Professional MBA (PMBA), a part-time MBA option for professionals who want to continue working while pursuing their MBAs; and the 21-month Executive MBA (EMBA), designed for professionals with at least eight years of experience in the workplace.
