The decision for a nation to require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college would be a serious mistake. The flaws in this sort of proposal are many, but among the most obvious are the lack of attention to differing student levels of ability, the issue of who determines what that curriculum may be and the potential of government oversight to cripple teachers' performances by restricting their options as to how to present the material. While there are some legitimate benefits to this type of standardization, the overall effect would be a negative one.
