Some people believe that in order to be effective, political leaders must yield to public opinion and abandon principle for the sake of compromise. Others believe that the most essential quality of an effective leader is the ability to remain consistently committed to particular principles and objectives.
Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.

I think that politicians are better to bend their principles and objectives in coordination with people demands.

The most prominent notion that should be strongly highlighted is the fact that in democratic governments the authorities are presumed to be the true representatives of general population. In other words, politicians who fill the positions such as senate representative, legislator, or president are elected by common people to fulfill the national objectives. Supposed being the most eligible individuals to represent the goals and demand of their compatriots, they are to be committed to abandon their personal objectives in favor of the people.

There may be an argue contends that general population do not have the adequate knowledge and are not qualified to make major governing decisions. This cannot be refuted immediately; however, the elections are devised to alleviate the need for experts who can deal with complicated and high-level national issues. Thus, the underlying implication is that politicians are trusted as being the most appropriate options for adjusting the nation's wishes and demands to the available resources through a tactful political way.

Should politicians neglect the people's demands at the expense of carrying on their personal objectives, will cast the image of totalitarian ruling systems, in which politicians do not call out the voice of their people. As people cannot exert their will in running their own country, they feel hopeless and see the politicians as aliens who exact their country. Consequently, a nation will decline in terms of prosperity and development, since they cannot make the changes they hope for. Gradually, politicians will fail to attract the support of their people.

To sum it up, I believe that politicians should be committed to represent the will and wishes of people and if necessary abandon their personal principle. This is necessary to produce a feeling of being capable to make changes among citizens while refresh the national unity. People will become more confident to their politicians and support them if possible.
