Essay:

In today’s worlds, demand of better infrastructure is becoming basic need / base of big cities. To fulfill this growing need of cities, there are lots of new constructions happening. Few of very common building requirements are office space, residential space, shopping complex, government building etc. Control over design of these new building is becoming major area to look after. Some argue that this should be controlled by government officials and some are in favor of building financers. Both side of this argument will be analyzed before a reasoned conclusion is drawn.

Firstly it is very genuine to say investors of the building have all the right to decide the architecture of building as they are the owner / sole body. They might have certain ambition or thought on how they want to design their building and by allowing them to design their own architecture they might create something on which everyone can proud. For instance, take a case of Burge Dubai. It was designed by financers of the project and now it turned up one of the wonder on which Dubai people can proud off. Because of this it is easy to see why the argument that financers should be free to design their own project has garnered support.

However on the other side of the argument it must be remembered that every government is responsible to protect environment, provide safety to general public and decide on some general rules and regulation that need to adhere by all individuals, organization or private body. The same goes to designing buildings. It has been seen in some area that when government didn’t controlled the design of the building it caused disasters. For example, Florida being a hurricane prone zone builders are not allowed to build skyscrapers. They must use wood instead of concrete to build flats or house for general public. This provides general public safety in case of hurricane or tornado situation. Unfortunately all financers might aware with all the geographical or environment needs while designing their building. Thus this makes it clear why the argument that government must control all building design supported by most.

In summary, both sides of argument regarding the control of building design in big cities have strong support. However after analyzing both camps it is clear that the idea of giving sole control in the hand of financers cannot be supported. As such, it is predicted that the negative aspects of the debate over giving control to financers of building will be forever be stronger than the positive ones and because of this government must control the design aspects of building in big cities.
