I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction on the recent decision taken by Bengaluru airports authority (BAA) to expand the local airport and number of flights.
I am living in Devanahalli village which is located 2kms from the local airport. The primary source of income for people in my village is agriculture. When the initial plan was made to construct an airport, it was agreed that villagers will give the northeastern part of the barren land for the airport construction, since the land is not suitable for agriculture.
But currently, for the airport expansion, the decision has been made to acquire the northern part of the land which is suitable for paddy cultivation. We agree that development is important but not at the cost of agriculture. Secondly, since the runway is closer to our village, we are already facing severe noise pollution. But BAA stated that they are increasing the local flights, if this happens, we will prone to face more health issues due to noise pollution.
So, I kindly request you to understand the concern and publish the news about the problems stated above, so that the government can reassess the possibilities.
