Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The charts show the information in terms of the number of marriages and divorces in the USA over 30 years and the marital status of American adults in both years.

Overall, it could be seen that the number of marriages in the USA from 1970 to 2000 was higher than divorces. Meanwhile, Married was the highest percentage for marital status of American adults betweem 1970 and 2000, rather than any marital status.

In 1970, for marriages, it remained plateau at 2.5 millions people until 1980. In contrast, divorces which was at 1 millions in 1970 became a dramatically peak nearly 1.5 millions in 1980. Even though both of them were obviously different between 1970 and 1980, their trend showed a slightly decrease from 1990 to 2000.

On the other hands, American adults prefered to be married one another approximately 70 % in 1970 and nearly 60 % in 2000 instead of any marital status. On the other case, only under half of 10% of adults chose to be widowed in 1970 and around 5 per cent divorced in 2000 where those are the lowest percentage of marital status of adults in the USA.
