The graph depicts the amount of goods transported by 4 types of transport in the UK from 1974 to 2002, in 28 years time proportion.

In 1974, the highest quantity of goods was transported by road ways. In these 28 years, the amount of transportation by road increased from 70 million tons to 100 million tons. Again in 2002 the most used transportation mode of goods was road.

Coming to the water and rail shipping, the amounts were the same in 1974 (40 million tons). While transportation by water rose to 65 million tons, stability was observed in rail way shipping in 2002.

On the other hand, in 1974 transporting goods by pipeline was not popular like the others. That is why the amount was 5 million tons. At the end of this time proportion, the number grew 4 times and again became the least used transport method of goods in 2002.
