The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The four pie charts compare units of electricity by fuel source of Australia and France in 1980 and 2000. It can be seen that in these years no units of electricity were produced by nuclear power in Australia.

In 1980 Australia produced 100 units and half part of these units belonged to the coal. In 2000 the number of units rose and got 170 units. Again the biggest part (139 units) belonged to the coal. But the amount of electricity produced by oil and natural gas decreased 10 times in 20 years. Coming to the hydro power, the number of units grew from 20 to 36.

In France 90 units were produced in 1980 and the biggest part of electricity belonged to the coal (25 units) and natural gas (25 units). In this year the electricity produced by hydro power was less than nuclear power. In 2000 amount of units increased 2 times. No change was observed in the number of the coal units. The number of oil units grew slightly from 20 to 25. Coming to the nuclear power, its amount increased significantly in 20 years and became 126 units. On the other hand, 4 units fell into natural gas and hydro power’s share.
