The comparison between marriage and divorce ratio in adults, between 1970 and 2000.
The former bar chart depicts the ratio of marriages and divorces in America, over a time course of 30 years, since 1970, whereas the latter bar chart illustrates the marital status of American adults in the year 1970 and 2000.
Over the period as a whole, the numbers of divorces were significantly lower - actually less than half - than the marriage numbers, excepting in the year 1980, in the USA.
In detail, in the year 1970 and 1980, the number of marriages were absolutely same, which was 2.5 million but the divorce ratio, in the year 1980, was lead by approximately 0.50 million than as in the year 1970. In the next 2 decades, the number of marriages was gradually decreased - 0.50 million every decade - and ended at 2 million in the year 2011. The same decreasing trend was analysed in the case of diverse ratio, as well, but on the smaller scale. After elevated up to 1.5 million - the diverse ratio - it was dipped at 1 million, in the year 2000.
Analysing the marital status of America adults, albeit the number of married adults was abruptly higher than the widowed, divorced, or single adults, the ratio of married ones ,in the year 1970, was one 10th more than compared to 2000. Additionally, the adults - who never get married - were 20% and 15% in the year 2000 and 1970, respectively. Other statuses such as divorced and widowed - adults - were in the very small number compared to the aforementioned ratios.
