The diagram below shows the number of houses built per year in two cities, Derby and Nottingham, between 2000 and 2009.

The provided infographic compares the number of annually built housing in Derby and Nottingham throughout a decade between 2000 and 2009.
As can be seen, the number of houses fluctuated in the cities and this figure was overwhelming in Derby during the given period of time. Initially, in 2000, nearly the same number of houses, less than 50, was constructed in both cities. A year later, this figure reached over 50 housings in Nottingham, while it leveled off in Derby. However, in 2002, there was an abrupt decrease in the number of new houses in Nottingham to only 30 units, whereas, in Derby, this figure almost doubled reaching 75 houses. The number of yearly erected houses had not been changed for 5 years between 2003 and 2007 in Derby at the level of 120 houses. In contrast, this figure was rising gradually from 50 housings in 2003 to 75 units in 2005 in Nottingham; then there was again a dramatic slump in the number of newly constructed houses to 5 units in 2006.
For the last three years between 2007 and 2009, Nottingham experienced substantial changes in the number of erected houses: in 2007, this figure rocketed to 180 units, then, it slumped to 8 units in 2008, and finally, in 2009, it reached 250 houses. In contrast, Derby only experienced significant increases to 270 and 248 houses in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
