Eating sweet foods produces acid in the mouth, which can cause tooth decay. (High acid levels are measured by low pH values)

Describe the information below and discuss the implications for dental health.

The graph compares the possibility of getting dental problems in 40 minutes after eating three kinds of sugar, namely fruit sugar, cane sugar and honey based on pH levels. The acid levels fluctuates considerably after utilizing these types of sugar. Additionally, in the fifth minute, it is the most risky to suffer from having tooth decays.

At the moment eaten, the pH level for all three counterparts was 7, which means the acid level is very low and it is unlikely to cause tooth decays. Five minutes after that, it is the most dangerous period for people who have eaten cane sugar, the pH level is incredibly low, about 3.5, which is absolutely acidic and can easily be destroyed by bacteria. At the same time, the figure for fruit sugar and honey was relatively low as well, which were about 4.2 and 4.7.

From this point to the fortieth minute, the patterns for these kinds of sugar all witnessed a remarkable increase and it is less likely to cause us dental problems as it grows. The pH levels for fruit sugar, cane sugar and honey are the same at this point, which is 7.

Overall, according to the graph provided shows that we should cut down on consuming sweet foods, especially cane sugar since tooth decays occurs more easily after eating this.
