The graph shows Japanese average monthly salary Yen from 1953 to 1983 and the prices of black and white television and color television during the same period

Essay topics:

The graph shows Japanese average monthly salary (Yen) from 1953 to 1983, and the prices of black and white television and color television during the same period.

The given line chart illustrates the number of monthly wage on average (Yen) and how much black and white TV and color television cost measured in Japan during the 30-year period.
It can clearly be seen that there was an opposite movement in the figure for average monthly salary and the changes in the cost of black and white TV and colored TV over the period of three decades, starting in 1953. In particular, in the year of 1953, black and white tv reached the highest price while Japanese average monthly salary was much lower than that.
According to the given information, at the beginning of the survey (1953), the price of black and white tv stood at 110000 Yen, compared to just around 20000 Yen of average monthly wage. There were no statistics of colored tv at the same time. However, after several years black and white television's price dropped significantly to just 40000 Yen by 1963, while the initial cost of colored tv was 100000 Yen, which was at least five times as high as that for average salary each month.
As illustrated, it is noticeable that the price of colored tv outnumbered that of black and white tv and average monthly wage (60000 Yen and roughly 30000 Yen, respectively). In 1983, nearly 70000 Yen was the number of the mean monthly salary, with that figure for the cost of colored tv not far behind (under 50000 Yen).
