The pie graph and table indicate the primary causes of making agricultural land less productive, also the table gives information about specific details of three regions of the world which were affected by these causes in 1990s.

Overall, the main reason for land degradation of the world was over doing agriculture, namely over-grazing and over-cultivation. While agricultural purpose affected many regions over the world, Europe area was the most degraded land, and mainly devalued by deforestation during the 1990s.

Over-grazing was the highest cause of making land degraded, with 35% in total. With the same agricultural purpose, over-cultivation accounted for the third reason, 28%, and it was lower than the cause made by deforestation, 30%.

European countries was the most affected area with total land degrading 23%. However, the main reason of Europe was deforestation, 9.8%, higher than either Oceania or North America, 1.7% and 0.2% respectively. The second region had degraded land was Oceania because of over-grazing, which was accounted for 11.3%. North America with 3.3% land became over-cultivation was the smallest land to be degraded.
