I regret to inform you that I will not be able to assume my job at your esteemed organization on the 1st February 2017 as per the appointment letter.
This is because, i need to travel to Peradeniya on the 28th January 2017 for my masters graduation which is to be held on the 1st February 2017. I was not aware of this when I accepted your appointment letter as I received the invitation yesterday.
Attending this graduation is very important for me since i have got through the course with a merit pass and the University of Peradeniya has organized a stage recognition for me with a gold medal at the ceremony.
Therefore, please be kind enough to understand my situation and grant me permission to attend the graduation. In addition, I confirm that I will be able to to start work at your organization from the 3rd February 2017. I apologize for the inconveniences caused.
