Essay topics: News stories on TV and in newspaper are often accompanied by pictures. Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words. What is your opinion about this.

Articles in the Internet and stories from book are frequently accompanied with pictures. Indeed pictures provide a vivid vision of information, which implies that picture is more effective than word in expression. However, I think that picture is just a complementary to words and words are the main source to convey information.

To start with, picture tenders a vivid description. A picture proffers a detailed image of what descripted in an article or a story. For example, a sketch in story can show background, people and event in a scene from a perspective. Nonetheless, a serial of pictures without description in word transmit no fixed meaning, which is subjected to views's interpretation. Therefore, picture is merely a complementary to words.

Words are the main source to convey information. A title in an article indicates what is the topic. Introduction paragraph introduces the background of the article and body paragraphs expound details of it. A whole article conveies the specific and detailed information of an event, an idea or a report. Definitely a picture compliments the expression of words. Nevertheless, words can transmit meaning accurately without a picture attached to it. Thus, words are the main source to convey information.

In conclusion, words are more effective in expression than picture. Picture is only s complementary to words, eventhough it reveals a vivid image of the content. However, words are the dominant conveyer of information because picture expresses no stationary meaning without a description in words.
