The professor discusses three main drawbacks of electronic medical records. The information she presents is in direct contrast to the facts outlined in the reading passage.

First of all, the speaker makes it clear that the costs related to paper records will not decrease noticeably. This is specially true considering the fact that most of the doctors will still take notes and more importantly they will not drop away the papers since they keep them as backup information. However, the reading explains that a good amount of money can be saved by using electronic medical records. In fact, the costs related to papers will decrease.

Second, the lecturer points out that the errors which are related to inaccurate handwriting would still exists due to the fact that most of doctors will take notes while examining patients. In addition, the professor notes that staffs are in charge of entering the data of patients to the computer. Therefore, handwriting mistakes could not be completely avoided. On the other hand, the reading describes that electronic medical records utilize standardized formats and fonts to prevent errors related wrong input data.

Third, the speaker specifies that according to the legal laws for keeping the patients information a secret, it is not always easy to have access to these electronic medical records. However, the reading states that these electronic records have a great role in medical researches due to availability and accessibility of these electronic records.
