In contrast to the reading passage, which emphasizes that salvage logging has plenty of merits both for a damaged forest and for the economy climate; the professor focuses on the opposite view. The professor in the lecture conflicts with the author's opinions on the reading and states that salvage logging has serious long-term damages.

The passage states that after a huge fire, dead trees should remove from the forest because they will take a long time to decompose and this does not allow growing and recovering new trees in the forest. However, the lecturer explains that cleaning up is not necessary because these dead trees, which have damaged by the natural process can provide beneficial and effective nutrients to generate new trees.

Moreover, in the text, the author mentions that dead trees are converted to a suitable place for insects like spruce bark beetle, which can damage to spruce trees. However, the professor rebuts this by saying that these insects can use for birds and other insects and they are a part of the cycle of life in the forest and are important for trees.

Finally, the author claims that salvage logging brings economic advantages and plenty of industries can use the wood from these damaged trees. In addition, the salvage logging can provide golden job opportunities for people. While the professor believes that, these damaged trees can recover by using helicopters or other vehicles instead of a lot of expensive methods. Furthermore, she states that jobs created by the salvage logging are temporary and are not god situation for workers.

To sum up, the professor effectively challenges the claims made in the article.
