LASER EYE SURGERY
The reading and the lecture both discuss laser eye surgery. The reading suggests that there are a number of problems with laser surgery that may make for people who do this surgery for the eyes. However, the lecture disagrees, saying that these problems are not common in these days.
The cost of this surgery is one of those problems. According to the reading, this process require several special instruments which are expensive and also doctors’ charge is very much, thus the cost of surgery will be increased relating to these problems. The professor, on the other hand, refutes that because of technology developments and more competition among doctors the price has decreased for last years, then almost people all can do surgery easily.
In addition, post-operative problems have casted doubt in the lecture and the reading. The reading says that there are some reports about cornea detaching and much recovery time after the surgery. In contrast, the speaker points out that a few known cases have reported for cornea detaching and also healing fully will not take much time and it only needs only about 2 or 3 days.
Finally, how long will last the laser surgery has discussed in the reading and the lecture. The reading states that most of the people have to come back to the doctor only after four or five years later. However, the professor states that there are a lot of evidences which show the laser eye surgery takes not only 5 years but also about twenty years after the surgery process, then this problem is not true as well.
In summary, against the reading statements and according to the lecture, laser eye surgery will become even more popular in a few next years
