Sparking as a punishment method.

Essay topics:

Sparking as a punishment method.

In this sets of materials, both the reading and the lecture discuss whether "Spanking is effective as a method to punish children or not". Whereas, the article supports Spanking, the listener disregards this idea and presents three reasons that she thinks overweight those in the reading.

First, in the article the author says that by using sparking, children come to understand that the action was wrong, thus they won't repeat it again. Notwithstanding, the listener disagrees with this idea, and instead suggests that children cannot understand that in reality they were sparked due to a bad behavior. Furthermore, the listener explains that parents should seat with children and explain them that the conduct carried on was not adequate. In this way, children will learn.

Second, the reading claims that according to some studies, sparking is more beneficial and effective than other methods like ''Time out" because with sparking, for sure children won't repeat the bad action again. On the other hand, the listener considers that this is not true. Instead, she thinks that "Time out" is better because this will give time to children to think that they did something wrong. In fact, studies demonstrated that ''Time out" is a better tool.

Third, the article posits that spanking connect children with the bad action, so they can infer that their act was bad. Nevertheless, the listener thinks something different and states that sparking can be forgotten in five minutes by children. Even, children don't watch this method as a punishment to correct them, instead they consider that parents are violent to them. So, in the future, children are prompted to carried on the same violent behavior on others.
