TPO-02 - Integrated Writing Task In many organizations, perhaps the best way to approach certain new projects is to assemble a group of people into a team. Having a team of people attack a project offers several advantages. First of all, a group of people

This essay presents an opportunity to discuss the functioning of a team working on an assignment. This essay contains various points agreed and disagreed upon. I will further elaborate on the points presented in the lecture and the passage.

The speaker of the lecture points out that when people are grouped in a team , working becomes highly inefficient and
unsatisfactory . The speaker furnishes several points to support his theory which are as follows : Firstly , the speaker states that there are certain instances in which group members do not really contribute anything to complete the task . However, the recognition that is received is given to the group as a whole (remove) . The real contributors don’t really receive any individual recognition. Secondly , the speaker describes the inefficiency of the working members by stating that various projects progress slowly due to controversies among the team members . Lastly, the speaker states that often influential people effect the functioning of the group destructively. Moreover, highly influential people can be misleading (try writing what is mentioned in the lecture ).

The author of the reading passage has contrasting views in comparison to the views of the speaker in the lecture. The author proposes several points which, contradict the speaker’s views which are as follows(change): Firstly , the author states that a group of people has comprehensive range of knowledge , mastery and skills than an individual. Moreover, a team serves to be highly resourceful in terms of professional work . However , the speaker argues that people working as a team are unproductive. Secondly , the author states that when people work as a group , work is done quickly. However, the speaker states that often the objective is not completed due to poor work culture and personal habits of the members. Thirdly , the author applauds team work by stating that groups come up with innovative solutions to problems. Lastly , the author states that in a team , no single person is accountable and can be held responsible for any incorrect decision - the entire team is responsible. Moreover, the author further states that working as a group can be rewarding as the team members have better chances to sparkle. However , the speaker contradicts the author by stating that the contributors do not receive any special appreciation. The group is appreciated as one.

The essay above clearly demonstrates the agreements and disagreements on the functioning of a team working on an assignment . The author of the reading passage believes that working as a group is perhaps the best way to accomplish the desired objective. which is opposed by the speaker of the passage.
