The reading passage and the lecture are talking about a specific Rembrandt's painting of a woman, and whether or not attributed it to the famous Dutch painter. The article states that it is a fake paint while the lecture explains how a real Rembrandt painting is hiding in this piece of art.

First, the lecturer explains how a new painting was made over the original one with the goal of increase its value, at that moment, with more vibrant colours. A later research of the painting showed that the original painting was hidden under the first layer with more subtle colours and not mistakes in the combination of lights and shadows.

Second, the cambas made of pieces of wood is actually an addition around the original single good piece of panel.
This addition was most probably done to create a bigger piece that, again, could increase its value at that moment.

Finally, the lecturer refers to the linen cap that the woman is wearing in the portrait that was inconsistent with the rest of the clothes. According to the lecturer, the original painting shows Rembrandt selportait with actually a hat.
