TPO-15 - Integrated Writing Task The cane toad is a large (1.8 kg) amphibian species native to Central and South America. It was deliberately introduced to Australia in 1935 with the expectation that it would protect farmers' crops by eating harmful insec

The article proposed three basic measures for impeding spreading of cane toad in Australia. The professor explains that these measures are unlikely and can cause severe environmental damage, and refutes each of the authors reason.

First, the reading says states that building a national fence will prevent the rambling of toads. The professor confutes this point by saying that young toads and their eggs can move through the water sources such as river, stream. He states that toads and eggs can easily move on the other sites because it is difficult to build on water sources. Further, he also claims that only few toads outside the fence are capable of breeding and colonizing in that area.

Second, the article posits that capturing and destroying the toad by volunteer another suitable method to prevent their population. The professor, however, says that during this activity, amateur volunteer are likely to destroy the native toad species of Australia. According to professor, when the frog are young the native toad species and cane toad are similar, making difficult to distinguish between them; so, it can result in destruction of Australian toad species.

Third, the reading states that researcher are developing the new virus disease to check the toad population. The professor opposes this point by explaining that former method will endanger cane toad population not only in it's native places but also in the world. We also learn that the toad species are migrated to various continent by researcher, so during the process they are likely to infect the cane frog of various location and jeopardize this population; thus it will cause both nature balance and ecological disaster.
