TPO-17 - Integrated Writing Task In the past century, the steady growth of the human population and the corresponding increase in agriculture and pesticide use have caused much harm to wildlife in the United States, birds in particular. Unfortunately for b

The lecture and reading both discuss bird's population. While the reading states that by increasing the human population and agriculture, people try to use pesticide and it causes to reduce the number of birds. The lecture refutes this, saying that the passage claims reducing the number of birds related to the using pesticide in agriculture, this claim is unconvinced.
First of all, the reading claims that by increasing the human population many places such as forest, grassland become disappear. However, lecture argues that it is true that some types of bird become decrease and a large type of birds become increase. According to the lecture, some place such as grassland and city proper for increasing birds.
In addition, the reading makes the argument that agriculture area should grow up because to survive the number of birds. The lecture counters this point by stating the assumption of the reading not correct because in the United Stated people improve the agriculture and variety of product without ruining wilderness.
Lastly, the reading passage argues that people in agricultures use pesticide as killing harmful insects and the pesticides polluted the environment of birds and it lead to decreasing the number of birds. The lecture refutes this claim by pointing out that in the past people used traditional pesticide that was harmful for birds and now people want to change the traditional pesticides at first to develop a new pesticide and second to grow crops. Moreover, the professor said that the pesticides do not harm for birds at all.
