The reading states that Peary reached the North Pole and provides three reasons of supports. The professor, however, explains that peary did not reach the North Pole and refutes each of author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that the National Geographic Society investigate peary's recods and confirm that Pealry reached the North Pole. The professor refutes this point by saying that the commeittee report was objective. She says that they were close frinds. The lecturer also says that the committee did not examine Pealry's record carefully. She as a result mentions that the committee support is not trustworthy.
Second, the reading states that a recent expedition provides support for Peary's claim. The professor contends this point by providing an example of similar expedition. She says that they transfer food with airplane. She mentions that Peary had unfavorable conditions.
Third, the reading states that Peary took a photograph whose shadow in the photograph provides support for his claim. The professor explains that the photograoh is not good evidenc. She says that shadow was very vary. Besides, she mentions that it was taken one hundred years ago. It is faded and blured. As a result, she says that the photograph is not appropriate to calculate the sun position.
