Both the reading and the lecture discuss about maintaining human presence on venus. While the author claims that it is impossible to think about staying on venus and it is inhospitable, the speaker disagrees and provides some pieces of evidence to state that it can be possible to have station on venus.
First, the passage says that atmospheric pressure on the surface of venus is 90 times greater than earth and all spacecrafts have landed there were crushed. However, the lecturer thinks in a different way. According to the lecture, they can stablish station floating such as a balloon. It can floats 50 kilometers high above them and there will be the same pressure that we have on the earth.
Additionally, the text points out that there is no water and oxygen on the venus and suppling them from the earth is impractical. Conversely, the man disapproves this point. He points out that they can do chemical processes to achieve that compound material which is necessary to have and take it to the venus surface.
Furthermore, the article states that there are poor sunlight in compare to the earth. The most Sun waves reflect by thick clouds. Therefore, it can cause lack of using solar power cells. In fact human could not get electricity for their machines and other power equipments. On the other hand, speaker rejects this idea by telling that clouds are not thick. Moreover, they can use reflecting sunlights to have solar power in the above clouds to produce electricity power.
