NORTH WALES, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

DEKRA Certification, Inc. today announced that it has certified Educational Testing Service’s (ETS) Quality Management System to the ISO 9001:2008 standard. DEKRA has certified ETS’s headquarters in Princeton, NJ, as well as five offices – Ewing, NJ; San Antonio, TX; Concord, CA; Sacramento, CA; and San Francisco; CA – that oversee core operations such as test development and research and development.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the role of top management, the process approach, and continual improvement. The standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations that want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customers’ requirements, and that quality is continually improved.

“We applaud ETS for their dedication to achieving and maintaining the highest levels of quality in the education testing industry,” said Dr. Cem O. Onus, Managing Director of Systems for DEKRA Certification, Inc. “Checking that the system works is a vital part of ISO 9001:2008, and we are pleased that ETS chose to partner with DEKRA for this important certification.”

Companies gain certification by implementing policies, procedures, and systems that meet ISO standards, which are assessed by a third-party certification body. As part of the ETS certification process, DEKRA Certification performed a series of audits and will continue ongoing assessments to monitor compliance.

“We are very pleased and proud of being ISO 9001:2008 certified across almost all ETS processes,” said Steve Pote, Vice President and Chief Quality Officer, ETS. “We appreciate DEKRA’s work and recommendations for further improvements.”

Pote adds that ISO 9001:2008 certification is a means of enhancing the reputation ETS already has for producing outstanding, high-quality results and will be an important proof point when responding to requests for proposals.

“ETS is the world's largest, nonprofit, educational based assessment testing agency, and pursuing this certification to ISO 9001:2008 means they hold themselves to the highest professional standards,” said Donald O. Nicholson, President and Chief Regional Officer of DEKRA NA. “Like us, they are committed to delivering the highest quality services to their clients, and it is a privilege to validate their efforts through certification.”
