TOEFL essay: Some people believe that the range of modern technology available to individuals is increasing the gap between the rich and the poor. What is your view?

Recognized as the chief driving force behind productivity, modern technology plays a pivotal role in human development. But in the mean time, the gap between needy and wealthy is widening rather than narrowing. Consequently, some people argue this phenomenon should be mainly attributed to the range of modern science available to people. Personally, I am in favor of this view.

The convincing arguments can be made that accessing technologies frequently is more conducive to achieving fortune. To start with, people who have easy access to the modern technology tend to be more financially successful in terms of career and business. This phenomenon is not restricted to children who are readily accessible to hi-tech equipments at their early age, but is also evident among adults who can be enlightened by internet constantly.

Moreover, advance technologies enable people to enjoy more commercial opportunities.
It is generally acknowledged that there is a definite link between how much information you obtain and how much you can make. As result of it, merchants allocate a great proportion of their revenue to purchase hi-tech equipments in order to gain business information as soon as possible. Obviously, if businessmen can acquire commercial intelligence immediately, then the chance of making money is given to them.

Apart from serving as commerce catalyst, mastering more technologies can assist people to open their own businesses. An increasing number of professionals and scientist apply what they have researched in institutes into practice and make the abstract and profound scientific theories become commodities, thereby creating massive fortunes for themselves.

Admittedly, we cannot guarantee that people could get rid of poverty, if the scope of technology available to them would be enlarged. The reason for this is that needy is generally not well-educated; therefore, they are unlikely to understand and grasp the essence of the advanced technologies in depth. Even so, negative effects created by the availability of technology should not be ignored. It is remarkable that governments have been investing money in poor students and funding them to complete their education for the purpose of narrowing the distance between rich and impoverished.

In summary, I would concede that the range of science and technologies available to people cannot determine whether a person is poor or rich. Despite that, this phenomenon brings about passive impact in reducing the gap between impoverished and wealthy. Overall, I am convinced that governments should issue several proactive polices to eliminate the inequality gradually.
