The processor is talking about the purpose of some animal's electric ability.

She mentioned that animal produce current to get food to survival. For example, when capturing prey, eel produce current to shock and paralysis their prey and enjoy in their leisure time.

Another purpose for producing current is to create a electric field in order to detect object nearby and navigate, which helps a lot for those fish with poor visual ability and those in the muddy water. For example, Knifefish can generate electric filed and sense the disturbance from rock nearby, and thus avoiding from crashing or hurting from the rock.
