Education is recognized as vital to the future of any society in today's world. Governments throughout the world should make education compulsory for all children between the ages of 5 and 15. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Education nowadays is put in ever greater priority in terms of the importance to development of any countries. As its key role to any societies, it is generally believed that education must be compelled for elementary and secondary students. In so saying, I am in favor of this policy basing my claims on the benefits of both individual and national aspects.

To begin with, the first supportive factor for the issue is that compulsory education is beneficial for people especially the poor. Because it can give fair opportunities for everyone regardless of their social background to access to basic academic knowledge, it can help disadvantaged students to be well-trained. Consequently, they would have chances to be employed and can improve their incomes. It can be assumed that the benefits of compulsory education is undeniable.

Another worth mentioning opinion is that the advantages for nation when individuals receive required education. From this, what is meant is that the more people receive compulsory schooling, the more numbers of well-qualified skilled workers the nations would have. Thus, it can be a good preparation for the development of a country as the workforce is well-educated and national intellectual standard is improved. Take Vietnam for example, compulsory education policy for children from the age of 6 to 15 help to nearly eradicate illiteracy.

To view from a different perspective, some people hold that required schooling may be a burden for parents and children themselves. This is partly true, because parent might force their children to be excellent in their study so that children might stressed out and lose their motivation in learning. However, it can not be denied that the age from 5 to 15 is the fundamental phase when children learn essential skills besides knowledge such as social and life-time skills which are very important to create their characteristic. Without school, they would miss on the social interaction gained from peers and might not realize their strengths and weaknesses.

In conclusion, compulsory in primary and secondary education plays a crucial factor in creating brighter future for individual and nations. Authorities should have policies to support children to go to school as they can contribute to countries in the near future.
