The table below show predicted and actual immigration figures for the UK for the years 1984 2000 Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature and make comparisons where relevant

The tables represent in comparison the estimated number and the real number of immigrants from 1984 and 2000. According to the data given by the table, it can be easily noticed that there is an inconsistency between predicted and actual immigration figures.

One thing to point out is that the actual number of immigrants fluctuated more than the predicted one. There is an upward trend for the estimated number from 1984 until 1990, the same for reality, but in 1996 hit its peak. Then, after three years, the number of immigrants overall fell down steadily. In the last year, the trends of both numbers are similar except from 1995 which the real figure reaches a peak of 114 thousand people, with 26 more than the estimated one.

Another thing to note is that the two figures do not have the same number for each year except 1989. The two years periods of underestimation is alternated by ones of overestimation. For example, in the first two years, the actual number is higher than the predicted one, and after two years, it is reversed.

In conclusion, the number of immigrants in 1984 has tripled in 2000, and it is keen on growing.
