It can be seen from the graph that the percentage of households in owned accommodation was relatively small in 1918, at just above 20%. This figure increased to 31% in 1939 and remained constant in 1953. Afterward, it witnessed a steady increase to just below 70% in 2001, surpassing the figure for households living in rented accommodation after 1971. However, this figure slightly declined by about 5% in 2011.

By contrast, the proportion of households in rented accommodation was more than three times as high as that of households in owned accommodation, standing at approximately 77%. This figure consistently decreased between 1939 and 2001. The gap between the two figures gradually narrowed until they reached the same level at 50% in 1971. Afterward, the proportion of households living in rented accommodation continued declining until it reached its lowest point at 31% in 2001. This figure slightly increased by 5% in 2011.
