The first graph illustrates that there are four main reasons leading to farming erosion, and the second graph focuses on statistics to emphasize how these causes impact in three areas in the 1990s. Overall, it is obvious from the first graph that overgrazing and deforestation for the highest proportion. In addittion, the total proportion of degraded land in Euruope was the highest.
As the pie chart shows, the percentage of deforestation was slightly higher than the percentage of over-cultivation. 35% of the land was eroded due to too many animals being fed on productive land, whilst other reasons accounted for only 7%.
Turning to the table, Europe's total agricultural land is damaged by a quarter, approximately 10% due to deforestation for industrial and residential land. Deforestation in North America accounted for only 0.2% ,so the total land damage there was only about 5%. In the oceans, deforestation and over-cultivation were only a slight percentage, but the land used for overgrazing was up to 11.3%, resulting in 13% of the total ocean land.
