With the development of the society, education has become more and more important in people's lives. Views differ remarkably on whether universities should spend more money on salaries for university professors, in order to improve the quality of education. As far as I am concern, the answer to above question is yes.

First of all, raising the salaries for university professors can keep them motivated. Nowadays, being a professor is much more difficult than it used to be, because of the high expectation, not only from students and their parents, but also from the society. Professors need to work very hard to make achievement in their teaching and academic researches. For example, when I was in university, it was quite common that we received emails from our professors in the midnight, with the comments of our assignment. Therefore, considering such high working pressure, high salaries need to be paid to the professors to keep them motivated.

Secondly, keeping the high salary standard for professors can attract more young people to apply for the faculty position. It has become increasingly common that most qualified graduate choose to work for big companies, instead of choosing to be a faulty, because of the difference of salary between companies and universities. If this keeps happening, the quality of education will decline eventually with the experienced professors retiring and no young generation taking over. Consequently, it is necessary to maintain the salary for professors at a satisfied standard, in order to attract more qualified young people to become professors.

Thirdly, increasing salaries for university professors can keep them more focus on educating, instead of doing multiple part-time work for living. With the rapid development of the society, the living cost has become very high too. It is undeniable that professors are just like any other people, who have kids to raise and mortgage to pay. If they only earn a modest salary at university, they would have to do some extra jobs such as consultant and private tutor. As a result, the energy and time they could spend on educating the university students will become very limited, thus affecting the quality of education. Hence, raised salaries should be offered to keep them focus on the priority job, which is educating students.

For what have been stated above, I agree that money should be spent of the salaries for university professors, in order to improve the quality of education.
