This set of materials deals with the subject of the movie of Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer Prize winning novel, Gone with the Wind. The reading states that the movie has racist object inside, while the listening counter with the opposite idea.

The reading suupports that the movie includes racism for some reasons. First and foremost, the reading starts to tell what the story is about and demonstrates that the main chracter Scarlett O'Hara degrades to the own slaves during the Civil War in the movie. Also according to the reading the movie describe the life before Civil war is as a Golden age. Then, the reading claims that not giving a first name to the Mammy, who is Scarlett's maid, shows that it is racist. Moreover, Scarlett slaps Butterfly McQueen across her face at one point in the film. Also, reading states that a civil war activist's idea about the theather. When McQueen is doing the performence, activist wants to crawl under the rug of the theather.

On the other hand, the listening presents that racism idea's are over-estimated for some reasons.
