about mandatory elections

Essay topics:

about mandatory elections

The lecture and the reading consider the issue related to mandatory voting. The passage explains several positive sides of a low, that makes it required for every adult citizen of a government to vote, but the professor rebuts it.

Firstly, the author of an article claim, that actually the citizens give the rights to authorities to govern them, so if a person doesn’t go to an election, the government loses its legitimacy upon him or her. Although the professor of the lecture has another significant point of view. He claims, that a small amount of voters increases its quality. Fastidious smart citizens, who truly want to vote, make a better choice of an authority, which will govern well for every dweller of a country.

The second idea from a passage states, that voting is like taxation should be a compulsory part of a nation is because the nation as a whole relies and depends on every citizen. Although the lecturer counters this point by mention, that not giving a vote means disagreement with every candidate, it is also a choice. Lecturer, in turn, illustrates the situation, like if a half of the people didn’t pay taxes, the government would run out of money, although if a part of citizens didn’t take part in election nothing would happen, the government would successfully continuer to exist and do the job, according to the professor.
