In the lecture, the professor discusses about Altruistic behavior describing recent research in which eating habit of meerkat are different from what have been believed before.

While a group of the meerkat hunt or eat food, the sentinel stands by for the purpose of looking around to find predators as soon as possible. In the passage, the sentinel's behavior is considered altruistic behavior. However, based on the research, the standing meerkat have eat food before acting as sentinel and escape as soon as it find a predator, so that the sentinel has greater chance of survival.

Even the meerkat's example was not found to be altruistic behavior, the professor mentions human still seem to behave altruistically sometimes. As an extreme example, there are people who donate their kidney to other people, typically the family member but sometimes even a stranger. Although the donor won't get any financial merit or previledge to offset their sacrifices, they still donate their organ. This fact indicate there is a some value for the donor to act like that.
