The reading section and the writing are talking about the issue regarding the decline in the number of literature readers. The author presents three effects of decreasing literature readers. However, the lecturer opposes this idea. He is of the opinion that the given explanations are faulty. The disagreements between the author and the lecturer are discussed below.
First of all, the author presents that the public is missing important ideas by not reading the literature. He further says that literature is the best way to enhance our thinking ability. However, the lecturer counters this saying. He says that people nowadays are into science and history-related books. These books are as good as literature. Furthermore, these trending books help people to get knowledge and increase their intellectual ability.
Secondly, the author has related not reading literature with a decline in the cultural quality. He says that reading trivial papers on the web and watching entertainment has hampered the culture of the people. Nevertheless, the lecturer has opposed this idea. He says that people are watching high-quality music and movies which help people to learn about their cultures. He insists that people are not wasting time by watching and reading means of entertainment, rather they are learning from these tools.
Thirdly, the reading section argues that due to the lack of the audiences, authors of the novels are demotivated to publish more novels product. Moreover, the poor standard of the readers has caused the decline of the literature. The lecturer, however, says that the fault is of writers due to the lack of vivid contents. The novels and other literature products are so obscure that it has become difficult for the people to understand. So, the number of literature readers has decreased.
