Summarize the lecture and the reading
Both the lecture and the reading discuss whether Rembrandt is the artist of the portrait which represents the woman's face. While the reading is doubtful about the painting, the professor endows that Rembrandt created the painting.
To begin with, the author mentions that the fur collar which the woman is wearing is not relevant to her identity. However, the professor disagrees by stating that the fur collar didn't appear in the original painting. It actually had been added a hundred years later by someone else to make a feeling of a formal woman.
Secondly, the writer makes the point that the light and shadow elements in the painting weren't fit together and Rembrandt would never have made a mistake like that. The professor opposes this viewpoint by saying that the original color of cloth was rudimentary and light. Therefore, the face would be illuminated by the reflection which looked really realistic.
Finally, the reading claims that none of Rembrandt's paintings was depicted on a panel glued together but this representation of woman's face. Nevertheless, the lecturer states that someone had beside added fur collar, he or she even enlarged the wood to make it more valuable. Initially, this painting was painted on a single wood panel which made from similar trees with other pictures.
