TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

The reading passage and the lecture discusses talk about this fascinating topic about insted of working five days working in company employes working for four days in week. The article claims that employees the option of working a four-day workweek for 80 percent of their normal pay would benefit the economy of the individual companies and the employees who decided to take the option to support this he gives three reasons for this. The lecture cast seriously doubt on the claims by reading passage, according to the professor four-day workweek will not benefit companies or employees who decided to take the option.
First of all, the auther of reading passage state that working four-day in week will make employs fress and will help them to reduce the chance of costly mistake and they can hire more staff in not extra cost because four-day employees would only be paid 80 percent of the normal rate this will befenit and increase profit company. This point challenged by professor he said that in this way compaine have to spend much more ammout of money because they have to get more health benefits for employs as health benefit is not base on which employe working in four day workweek or five day workweek can hiring more people need more space and computer to work.
Secondlly, the reading passage state that four-day workweek will reduce unemployment in country as they higire more employe this will reduce unempoloyment rate in country will get befenit. This point is rebuts by professor he state that as hirring is very costly process so insted of that they might get ask to employe work over time to fill the differnce and worst company get expect from there employes to work the same amout of work in four days as they did in five days and this will not create extra job and make current job more hard to do.
Finally, the article state that four day workweek will give empolyes extra time which they can use in may ways like they could spending the extra time with their families, pursuing private interests, or enjoying leisure activities this will give benefit for empolys in exchange of lower salary. The lucture state that by wokring four day in week altoght get extra time but will also get risk to lose their jobs and their ability to work to illustae this professer provides an example of if ecomie when down they will be the first to lose job first in compare to five day workweek employes and this will also reduse there chance to promostion low as they will consider five day working employe because they will supervaise company in all five working day.
In summary, while both reading the passage and lecture puts some interesting facts about four day workweek but a significant amount of fact support that there is know clear reason that four day workweek will be benefit over five day workweek Therefore reading passage failed to justify.
