Both reading passage and the lecture are about one of clues whether full-length portrait of a teenage girl illustrates Jane Austen. The writers states this portrait is image of monumental English novelists Jane Austen and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor states this portrait might be illustrates relatives of Jane and refutes each of the authors claim.

First, the reading passage states family of Jane Austen states the teenage girl in the painting is image of Jane Austen. The professor refutes this point. He states the family recognized the picture after seven years of Jane Austen's death.

Second, the author claims that the face of the teenage girl looks similar to adult Jane Austen's sketch which made by sister of Austen. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt onto this claim by stating the image in the portrait shows to relative of Jane. He states, the image might be illustrate the one of the cousins of Jane or their child.

Third, the writer states that Ozias Humbrey who might be the painter of this portrait was painter while Jane Austen was teenager. Conversely, to this claim professor claims that William Lake sold the canvas of portrait while Jane Austen was 28 years old. So, Jane was not a teenager when this portrait painted.
