TPO 16 - Integrated

The author believes that the science of archeology had faced a lot of difficulties and problems in the twentieth century in Britain. The lecturer, however, argues that new rules established at 1990, improved conditions of archeology significantly.

First, the author states that growth in construction projects in the britain lead to destruction of plenty of archeologically valuable sites, and constructors failed to preserve probable existing artifacts. On the contrary, the lecturer purposes that the new rule obliged constructors to examine a field for artifacts prior to beggining the construction process. If the field contained artifacts, the construction would continue either after excavation or in somewhere around the site.

Second, the author explains that there were insufficient funds for archelogical activities back then. On the other hand, the lecturer suggests that the new rule imposed the expenses of examination and excavation of valuable sites to the construction companies. This was rather a new, yet massive source of financial support for archeology.

Finally, the author states that Britain suffered from shortage of jobs in the field of archeology. However, the lecturer argues that the new rule provided people with plenty of opportunities in archeology, and this scientific field is thriving at the moment.
