TPO 17 integrated essay
The article declares that due to the increasing population, agriculture and pesticide use birds population in decline and provides three reasons for support. However, the professor says that reasons giving in the article are unconvinced and refutes each of the author's response.
To begin with, the passage claims that the habitat of the birds is converting to homes, malls, and offices for humans. As a result, the bird's population is decreasing. On the other hand, the speaker contradicts these points by stating that some kinds of birds are affected but not all kinds. She explains that people in the cities say that they can see many birds like pigeons, Hocks. Some kind of birds are affected but not all birds population is decreased.
Moreover, the reading says that due to increased activities in agriculture more birds habitats are destroying. Nonetheless, the lecturer explains that the USA now using less land for agriculture than before because they are using new varieties of the crop. This crop produces more vegetation.
Lastly, the reading contends that due to increased use of the chemical pesticides number of birds in decline. The speaker cast doubt on this theory. He says that they adopted two techniques. First, they are using less toxic pesticide and second they are growing pest-resistant crop which does not harm birds.
