TPO-34 - Integrated Writing Task A huge marine mammal known as Steller’s sea cow once lived in the waters around Bering Island off the coast of Siberia. It was described in 1741 by Georg W. Steller, a naturalist who was among the first Europeans to see

The reading passage and the lecture discusses this fascinating topic steller's sea cow which is a larger marine mammal how is found in 1741 by Georg w.Stellers. The article claims that he know how sea cow extinct to support this he gives three reason and any of them is the reason why the extinct. The lecture cast serious doubt on the claims given bye reading passage, according to the professor know one how sea cow extint their much be some other reason then given by the reading passage.
First of all, the author of reading passage state that the sea cow has died because they overhunted by people of Siberia. as they are good for eating. This point is challenged by the professor he said that yes people of Siberia killed some of the sea cows but this can not be the reason for their exition as they are, about 10 ten only one sea cow can be eaten by 2-3 months of Siberia village.
Secondly, the reading passage state that sea cow kill by ecosystem disturbances as the eat kelp is not inofed for them so they died because of hunger ness. This point rebuts by the professor he states that there is no evidence found that ecosystem is disturbances to illustrate this he provides an example that if anything happens in the ecosystem in 1768 wheals come to surface of the water and any of the ships will see they but there is no report for that so it is likely they died because of this.
Finally, the article states that most important reason sea cows died because of Europeans for traders as they came and killed sea cow and also have that kind of advance weapon so they can kill sea cow easily. The lecture states that Europeans killed last of them they are not the reason for this they just come late for sew cow on their extinction. to support this professor says that they start dying 100 years before when they came they just came chack the last one.
In summary, while both reading the passage and lecture puts some interesting facts about sea cow, but a significant amount of fact support that there is know clear reason how sea cow extint. Therefore reading passage failed to justify how Steller;s sew cow extint
