TPO 37- One of the threats to endangered sea turtle species is the use of nets by commercial shrimp-fishing boats. When turtles get accidentally caught in the nets, they cannot rise to the surface of the ocean to breathe, and they die. Some people suggest

The reading and the lucture are both talking about turtle excluder device that calls TED. TED is a way to rescue turtles that trap in shrimpers net and then they can not breath so they die. Thus the passage wants to say it is not a effective way to save these turtles, On the other hand the professor says that using TED is the best way to prevent form these turtle extintion.

First of all, According to the passage it is rarely to a turlte caught in a shrimps net and it happens about one month. The passage stands that the cost of using TED is not economy for shrimpers..... However the professer point that their are thousends of shrimps all over the word that if the caught a turtle accidently the population of turtles will decrease and it is dangorous.

Additionaly, The passage says that one of the effictive way to save turtles can be by limit the time that net is under water, by this if a turtles trapped in net, it can come up in shot time to breath and then the shrimper will realse it from the net. In contrast the lecture beileves that goverment can not force the shrimpers to limeted this time and it hard to say to thousends of shrimpers.

finally, The passage point out some of these turtles are anormose and they can’t be trapped in TEDs. So they can not escape from the net. But the speaker says that the TEDs can be modify for this kind of turtles additionaly thes ganra of turtles are in a certain area so we can use special TEDs in that areas.
