The article states that an European silver coin is discovered at a Native American archaelogical site in the state of Maine in united state and provides three reason to point out that this coin does not have any historical evidence. However, the professor explains none of these reasons are convincing and refutes them one by one.

To begin with, because of the great distance between the Maine site and Norse settlements, this coin does not have any relation with the settlements. As the reading claims, is refuted by the professor . He asserts that large distance is not firm evidence since Europeans are in favor of traveling long distance and bringing new stuffs.

In addition, according to the essay, no more coins have been discovered and this propose that Norse did not bring any silver coins to North American settlements. Nevertheless, professor argues that North American packed up all silver coins and use them when they travel to Europe.

Finally, based on author's opinion, North Americans do not recognize silver coin as money and it is useless stuff amoung them. On the contrary, the professor states that North Americans like jewerlies and these coins are mading from silver and are beautiful, moreover, they could use these coins for traiding.
