The reading passage provides three reasons to prove this theory that the pterosaurs were not able to flight. However, the professor rejects all of the reasons because of the evidences they are not true.
First, the passage declares that the pterosuars were the cold-blood animal like the modern reptiles. This type of animals have a slow metabolism and are not able to produce a lot of energy. And, for flighting animals need to have a lot of energy like the modern vertebrates that are warm-blood and able to produce a loft of energy. So, the pterosaurs were not flight. However, the professors completely disagree with this idea. In fact, according to fossil of the pterosaurs, their body had dense hair and its cover by the fair which is the characteristic of the warm-blood animal. So, the pterosaurs could produce enough energy for flying.
Second, the letter asserts that the pterosaurs were heavy which prevented if from flapping fast enough to fly for any length of time. But, the lecturer does not accept this claim. Actually, the evidences shows that its weigh was not so much because of its body's structure. Its bone are hollow instead of solid. So, pterosaurs were light in spite of their large size and they are able to flap their wing fast and fly.
Third, the reading explains that the birds need to run fast or jump in order to take off and start flying, but the pterosaurs could not take off. In fact, the pterosaurs for taking off need a large powerful muscles in its back legs, but its fossils reveal that it had too small and weak leg. Nevertheless, the woman's rejects this reason because in spite of the birds that walk on two foot, the pterosaurs walked on their four foot which enable them to run fast enough and jump high to take off and launch themselves into the air.
