Both author and lecturer offer two opposing views on the efficacy of three solutions mentioned as the responses for preventing injuries to birds. While the reading part lists these three solutions as the best options to overcome this problem, the professor counters these particular points and presents some clues to call into the question for the information in the reading passage.

First of all, the passage posits the one-way glass, which makes the windows look like a solid barrier from outside, as a possible solution for this incident. However, the instructor casts doubt on the accuracy of this claim. As he states, the one-way windows act just like the mirror. As a result, they have the reflection of the sky and trees. Besides, the birds are not able to distinguish the picture reflected by the mirror with the real sense; consequently, the birds will fly through the window as the past, and the one-way windows are ineffective.

Next, meanwhile, the article mentions to the colorful strips designs on the regular windows as a feasible accountable for this issue; the lecturer refutes this possibility. Based on his assertion, since there are some openings on the windows to let in the lights, the birds assume them as the holes, and they just eager to fly through the holes. Therefore, they will have the accident. They can prevent this accident by making the opening too tiny, which in this case, the adequate lighting for inside will be diminished. Thus, this solution cannot be responsible for this problem.

Finally, the text assumes that the magnetic field can be beneficial inasmuch as it navigates the birds’ direction; hence, the building with the magnetic field can guide birds away. On the contrary, the professor challenges the feasibility of this solution by mentioning to the effectivity of the magnetic field in the long distance. The birds use the magnetic field in the long distance journey such as the migration from the cold area to the hot spot in the winter. On the other hand, for the short distance such as in the city movement, the eyes and the brightness of lights are effective for the navigation. Consequently, the magnetic field would not present the expected function to address this problem, and it would be abortive.
