Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study.

In order to survive in the current competitive world, one must be well equipped with variety of qualities. The time span which students usually spend in the universities while learning is the best period to indulge in as much knowledge as possble. Now, looking at current scenario of our education system which does not allocates a freedom of learning besides the major field of study one has opted.

Acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way to become truly educated. This has a viable logic behind it. Students complete their academic period of learning and start looking for a job. Here, the companies prefer to recruit candidates which have a thorough knowledge of their field, beside this they even want the aspirants to be updated to the recent new technological development happening in other fields too.

Narrowing students learning prospects will hinder the actual growth of an individual. It can be well illustrated by a simple example, if an individual from the mechanical stream wants to setup a manufacturing company which will serve it's products in the market. Now, for this company to run succesfully, that individual will have to market it's product, not only this, he must have procurement team which will supply the materials for manufacturing. Furthermore, one cannot ignore the sales department which forms the backbone of the company. All these qualities can be developed when that individual has basics done in the academics while studying in the universities.

So, universities should look after this issue and take some tangible actions whic will serve to the benefits of the students and certainly to the development of the country. Universities may allow their students to take any two subjects of their interest besides the regular curriculum. This will help students in developing their skills and improve their profile equipped with some new, different and creative aspects. This will even allow students to make good contacts while attending lectures with new students of the other streams which will help them in some way later. Contacts are most important to sustain the current corporate world.

Therefore, it would be right step put forward if universities allow every student to take variety of courses outside the student's major field of study.
